Building maritime network – Arena Arctic Maritime Cluster/Arena Maritim Klynge (AMK)
On 7.6.2013 AMK got the final governmental approval as an Arena-program, – a networking program managed by Innovation Norway. The ARENA-program is running for a period of 3 years. AMK aims to become the leading maritime cluster in Norway focusing on arctic operations. Maritimt Forum Nord is the project owner. The chairman of Maritimt Forum Nord, Tor Husjord, has been the “main engine” throughout the process of realizing the AMK project. Transportutvikling AS is AMK’s the project manager.
AMK is a networking program. The vision is to position players/partners as preferred suppliers coming to arctic maritime technologies and operations in Norwegian and international arctic markets.
The ambitions of AMK are partly to develop cluster synergies and partly to realize the clusters knowledge-, innovation and competence synergies. 5 main strategies are the tools for materializing the ambitions:
• 2 strategies are related to development of internet and external networks
• 3 strategies concerns specific projects, like market development, internationalization, knowledge and innovation and competence and recruiting.
The present members of AMK are: 9 shipping lines, 5 ship yards, 13 service- and equipment suppliers, 7 knowledge providers and 4 cooperating partners.
During the coming AMK intend to focus on dedicated process management and partner dialog. The intention is to develop and materialize commercial projects, and organizing several professional workshops like LNG, winterization, fisheries etc.
