CWind is an Integrated Service Provider (ISP) supporting the wind industry by providing on-demand services as well as 360o solutions to ensure the success of our clients’ projects. We’re focused on helping our clients achieve their key objectives, contributing to cost reductions and greater project efficiencies during construction and operation & maintenance (O&M) phases.
CWind was launched in 2009 by local entrepreneur Andy White to provide services to Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farm. Since then, the operation has expanded to serve multiple clients and projects in the North Sea, Irish Sea and Baltic Sea. Stepping up the pace, 2014 saw the company enter the German market with a new office based in Bremen.
Since inception, CWind has focused exclusively on offshore wind, allowing us to become recognised experts in the field, and giving us a unique ability to team up our highly skilled, well-trained and proven project solutions with flexible, multi-tasking and fuel-efficient vessels.
Proven Track Record
CWind has a proven track record of delivering cost-effective solutions. Since 2009 we have worked on more than 30 offshore wind farms across the UK, Germany and the Netherlands including the world’s largest offshore wind farms. We provide everything you’re likely to need: Proven project solutions, fuel-efficient and modular vessels, highly experienced technicians and fully accredited training services. We can deliver stand-alone or packaged services, wherever and whenever needed.
Expert project delivery
CWind has extensive experience in managing service packages in the wind sector and understands the demands placed on people and boats by offshore work, as well as the complexities of offshore wind farm construction and maintenance. As a result we are increasingly being asked to deliver comprehensive solutions that combine project management, equipment provision, technician services and marine logistics.
Innovation is key to the work we do. On behalf of EnBW we delivered a temporary power supply solution at their Baltic 2 offshore wind farm that included state of the art TODO refuelling equipment. The system, used in Formula One racing as it withstands high pressure and allows for faster refuelling, is a completely safe, drip-proof fuel transfer system and includes an automatic shut-down valve.
Temporary Power Supply –
A constant, efficient and safe power supply is critical to the smooth and uninterrupted construction and maintenance of your wind farm. The further out at sea and the harsher the conditions, the more you need to be able to rely on your temporary power supply.
CWind has provided temporary power to some of the largest wind farms in the North Sea, the Baltic and the Irish Sea. With years of experience and the ability to deliver and manage a bespoke solution, we can handle the considerable technical and logistical challenges of providing power where the grid does not yet reach. We provide the right equipment for your wind farm and will manage the project to support your construction goals.
Balance of Plant Services
Offshore wind farm developers and owners face a multitude of tasks, which original equipment manufacturers will not typically take on. In both construction and O&M, this long list of tasks is routinely taken on by a plethora of contractors, increasing work load, risk and costs.
CWind’s balance of plant services combine all of the elements owners require to complement their OEM contracts in one package: Logistics, turbine, cable and foundation maintenance in one bespoke solution: Our fleet of wind farm support vessels transports your technicians safely and comfortably to and from site. With a large and flexible payload they are ideal multipurpose vessels.
On site our technicians can look after the site from top to bottom. Our teams are ready to support erection and we undertake blade inspection and repair with certified and experienced rope access technicians. Boost your own team from our pool of experts when needed or establish a dedicated project team to provide scheduled or unscheduled as well as warranty works.
Cover your inspection, corrosion protection and certification needs and benefit from a pool of skilled technicians to speed up commissioning or multi-task the maintenance of your assets in O&M. We provide subsea services including bathymetric surveys to establish erosion and ensure cable protection and we can take care of marine growth removal.
OFTO Asset Solution
OFTOs are under strict obligations to deliver near perfect availability of their on and offshore assets. Strong penalties and incentives encourage additional production and performance. CWind’s wide range of specialist skills, competencies and expertise are perfectly suited to providing an integrated managed service for the mechanical, electrical and access services needed for the operation and maintenance of OFTP assets. Our competent, certified and experienced teams will look after platform, transformers, structures, cable systems and switch gears. Our corrosion protection will ensure they remain structurally sound and protected against the elements, now and in the future.
We combine our mechanical and electrical services, inspection, testing and certification services with comprehensive wash down, repair and corrosion protection including high voltage services. If the onshore substation lawn needs mowing, we’ll do that too.
New partner – wider portfolio
In February 2016, Global Marine Systems Ltd acquired a majority stake in CWind. The purchase by Global Marine complements our own offering with Global Marine’s range of cable installation and maintenance services, enabling CWind to incorporate cable repair as part of our services. Global Marine is the ideal partner to manage risk and maximise the return on investment for our clients’ underwater cable projects. With a large and varied fleet of offshore support vessels, capable of carrying out a diverse range of subsea engineering projects, Global Marine is able to operate in both deep and shallow water. We look forward to addressing the developing needs of our customers together and providing unparalleled value for our clients in construction and O&M.
Award winning services
Health and safety is fundamental to CWind’s business. We are humbled to have won the RoSPA Gold Award for our Health and Safety performance for the last three years. In June 2016, we were delighted to receive the inaugural Maritime Sustainability Award at Seawork in Southampton. The award recognises the importance of sustainable practices in the work boat sector and lauded CWind’s outstanding commitment to driving forward environmental initiatives, as well as the company’s sustainable work practices.
Whether off- or onshore, we are committed to delivering projects on time every time. Talk to us to find out how we can help to deliver your construction or O&M projects.
