DONG Energy

DONG Energy DONG Energy’s vision is to provide clean and reliable energy. To produce more energy with less CO2, we need to change the way we produce energy. It is a long-term project, and not an easy one. At DONG Energy, we are well on our way.

Leader in offshore wind farms
We have built more offshore wind farms than any other company in the world, and more are on the way. More wind energy from offshore wind farms is an important step for us on the way to fulfilling our vision.

One of our major projects is the London Array offshore wind farm. DONG Energy has a 50 per cent share of the wind farm, which we are constructing together with our partners. With a production capacity of 630 MW, London Array will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it becomes operational in 2012.

CO2 emissions to be cut by 50 per cent by 2020
Along with wind energy, biomass and natural gas play an important role in our heat and electricity generation. Both fuels help ensure that we can always supply heat and electricity to our customers, even when there is no wind. With our 85/15 strategy, we have outlined how more wind
energy and increased use of biomass and natural gas will help us reduce our CO2 emissions per kWh generated by 50 per cent by 2020.

Important companions on our journey
On our journey towards clean and reliable energy, natural gas and oil will continue to be important companions for years to come. Without them, we will not be able to ensure the reliability of our energy system and we will not be able to supply the energy our customers demand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Strong position in the North Sea
At DONG Energy, we have been developing our capabilities and activities in oil and natural gas exploration and production for more than 30 years. We have a growing portfolio of more than 60 oil and natural gas licences in Northern Europe. DONG Energy has a strong position in the Danish sector of the North Sea, and we continue to see opportunities for discoveries and development in the area.

Future bio solutions
At DONG Energy’s Innovation Centre, we develop technologies aimed at meeting the need for clean and reliable energy in the future. The technologies Inbicon, REnescience and Pyroneer are at different stages of development in preparation for commercialisation. Inbicon is at the most advanced stage of development, and focuses on production of second-generation bioethanol based on straw and agricultural waste products.

With REnescience we are able to utilise the energy in household waste more efficiently, and our Pyroneer technology will be able to convert residual biomass from agriculture and industry into biogas through lowtemperature gasification.
