RS Sea Rescue Academy delivering excellence in HSE and emergency preparedness training.
The RS Sea Rescue Academy (RS Sjøredningsskolen) is located on campus at the Buskerud-Vestfold University College in Horten, a small town one hour south of Oslo.
In it’s portfolio the academy offers both custom and standardized training of ship crew and offshore workers, according to national and international standards, mandatory requirements and clients requests.
The academy holds a Certificate of Compliance from Bureau Veritas as a Maritime Training Institution, and is also approved by the Norwegian Maritime Administration to perform training according to the STCW 2010-convention. In addition the academy also holds an approval from Norwegian Oil & Gas to perform all types of emergency preparedness training according to their Guideline 002.
Among RS Sea Rescue Academy facilities is a 1800 m2,
state of the art, environmental friendly fire training simulator, allowing up to 90 students at a time to do realistic fire training exercises in totally safe surroundings.
Next to the fire training simulator the full size, heated pool with a wave generator and powerful fans allows for realistic sea conditions to do all kinds of sea survival exercises. A HUET- (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) simulator is also installed in the pool area.
The most recent addition to the academy’s facilities is the simulator center, purpose built for advanced search and rescue operations at sea, but with it’s three navigational bridges, engine control room and ECDIS-lab also suited for training in Bridge/Engine Resource Management, ECDIS/AIS, operation of high-speed crafts etc.
A staff of highly qualified professionals with hands-on experience, ranging from ship captains and pilots to medical doctors and nurses, fire-fighters, divers and engineers ensures delivery of top-end training every time.
RSS is located 32 km from Sandefjord airport Torp, 6 km from Horten, 12 km from Tønsberg and 97 km from Oslo.
