The life sciences are a collective term for the fields of biotechnology, medical technology and pharmaceuticals involving any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms or their derivatives to make or modify products or processes.

Swedish Life Sciences is a comprehensive introduction to an industry that employs some 40,000 people in Sweden, accounts for 20 per cent of Swedish net export worth over over SEK 40 billion, and is fast becoming a cornerstone of the nationl economy.

With forewords contributed by SwedenBIO, Swedish Medtech, LIF and SweCare, the publication is divided into two sections: editorial, covering the history, recent developments, and technology of the sctor industry, and commercial, presenting many of the most important companies that have made it all possible.

Swedish Life Sciences is published in conventional and electronic form. As a beautifully produced hardback book, copies are distributed free of charge throughout the world (including Swedish Trade Councils offices abroad), and are available at a number of important trade fairs and conferences related to the industry. Additional copies are available on request from Horn Publishing, which also publishes similar books on a range of business sectors and industries in a growing number of countries.
