Høgskolen i Bergen Dykkerutdanningen
The Diver Education at the University College of Bergen was founded in 1980, then under the name of “Norwegian State Diving School” During its lifespan the
school has so far offered more than 20 different courses pertaining to commercial diving. Today the school is located in Skålevik, Bergen where it holds excellent facilities for training students in all skills necessary to become an underwater worker.
As of 2004 a challenging and exciting era for the school started as it began its technical college programme where students during the span of one year will receive training and certificates in most areas necessary for commercial diving activity. In the world of diving which is almost exclusively based on modular courses this programme is somewhat of a revolution both nationally and internationally.
The 1st of January 2005 the Norwegian State Diving School merged with the Bergen University College and to signal this, the name was changed to Bergen University College Diver Education. To this day the Diver Education is the only school in Norway that offers vocational diver education.
The school is also rightfully proud of its effort to ensure a uniform and nationwide standard for rescue diving. The school’s goal is to be, and continue to be, amongst the best diving schools in the world.
