The OHT vessel Hawk transported both rigs safely from Singapore to Norway, with average speed of 11,5 knots during the 46 days voyage – a voyage that incurred heavy seasonal weather conditions whilst passing Cape of Good Hope and Bay of Biscay.

OHT AS is a Norwegian shipping company, which operates semi-submersible open deck heavylift carriers suitable for dry transportation of offshore drilling rigs, offshore modules and all other oversized non-conventional floating and non-floating cargos. OHT is one of the most experienced heavy transport vessel operators in the world. The company’s headquarter is located in Oslo, Norway and OHT have offices in Singapore, Korea, Shanghai, and Houston. Offshore Heavy Transport AS is the holding company of six subsidiaries, including OHT; The company is a major operator and presently owns 4 semi-submersible heavy lift vessels; Eagle, Falcon, Hawk and Osprey. The fifth vessel, Albatross, will be ready for operation first quarter 2015. Offshore Heavy Transport is 67% controlled and owned by Arne Blystad AS.
The vessels are capable of transporting some of the largest and heaviest cargos which are transported by method of dry-tow in the world today. Main cargos are jack-up drilling rigs, semi-submersible rigs, offshore modules and other construction type cargos like barges, dredgers, tugs, pipe-layers, floating cranes. The vessels are known for their high speed and safe operations and the staff have extensive experience within the industry. OHT focus is meeting its clients’ demands to safety, speed and on-time performance.
The company took delivery of its first converted heavy lift vessel, Eagle, in November 2006. The second converted heavy lift vessel, Falcon, was delivered in early April 2007. The third vessel, Osprey, was delivered in June 2008 and the fourth vessel, Hawk, was delivered in December 2008. Over this period OHT have built a solid client base which includes all industry majors within all client segments, and have through this built a reputation of being a clear quality transport provider.
Jon Chr Syvertsen is the Chief Executive Officer of Offshore Heavy Transport AS. He was previously employed as Chief Investment Officer in the Blystad Group, Vice President & Commercial Director by Frontline Ltd., and Vice President by Umoe Gruppen AS.
Mr. Syvertsen holds a Master of Science from NTH in Trondheim and an MBA from IESE in Barcelona.
Tom E Jebsen is presently a member of the executive management team and CFO within the Blystad group, and the CFO of Offshore Heavy Transport AS. He has extensive management experience in shipping and offshore drilling companies. Mr. Jebsen holds a Master of Science from NTH in Trondheim and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
Bertil Rognes is the Head of Cargo Management in OHT and has previous experience from Eitzen Chemical as a Technical Projects Director for an extensive ship new building program, account manager at Lloyds, and Naval Architect at Aker Maritime. He received his Master of Science from NTH in Trondheim.
Niels Heldre is the Head of Chartering Management in OHT. He holds a Bachelor of International Business degree from Australia. Niels has worked for OHT since 2007.
